Agree. I’ve noticed that some people are changing beliefs, but not approach. Folks who were self righteous and feverishly proselytized their evangelical beliefs are now self righteous in their deconstructed beliefs. Everything extreme and polarizing and they are always right and there’s always a spirit of viciousness under whichever veil they’re currently wearing.
Whoa this was so well-said. This is basically describing Jen and her bunch of internet besties, maybe minus Tara. Jen, Sarah B, Jamie W, and Kristen were all card-carrying youth group./choir/church superstars who are now dissing the church at every turn. They are as Pharisaical as deconstructing people as they were as church members. Gosh, I wish they'd find their way back. I cringe because I feel like, hey, Jesus probably doesn't want you guys insulting his church in every blog post. Even Jen and Glennon on the podcast were scorning certain Bible passages about not following your heart or leaning on your own understanding. Also, early 80s sex ed in the Bible belt student right here. My parents were baby boomers who were more than happy to talk about sexual matters and let me read whatever I wanted. They took me to church when I was very young but then stopped going. I caught rides to youth group with a local family.
