At MYS town hall it was stated that the posted sizes are minimums and final count will be coaches discretion. So beware you could end up "on the team" but then several players may not dress every game. If that were my player I would probably wish we had made a difference choice. Even worse if you are expected to travel to NC and not play.
I'm worried it will be more than several.
Interested in people's opinion or parents have been in this situation. If you're player 19+ and sitting ECNL games, would it have been better to just play RL or GA (accept the premise that the area GA teams are in between RL and ECNL, I don't want to start a whole sid debate here)? Or better training to stay on the ECNL team but not play games?
the obsession with diluted ECNL is comical. Go to a RL team where your kid will get more touches on ball, and still get exposure if they pursue it. If you aren't in a top ECNL bracket you will be very disappointed in recruiting.
I'd prioritize coaching and playing time over everything else at U13/14. So go RL if you have to to get it. If you are interested in college soccer at all, then getting to ECNL or GA by U15 is important, but if you are player 17+ at an ECNL club at U15-U17, then I'd advise your DD to be a starter and impact player on GA instead. At U18/U19 you should do whatever is the most fun and try not to think too much about how you made all the wrong decisions in the 5 years leading up to this one.
