A virtue of Hardy may be its smaller size. But to be blunt, the IB parents I know feel that going from Deal to Hardy is like going from steak to Hamburger Helper. A number of Eaton OOB parents don’t care because they live in certain “Bowser base” neighborhoods EOTP that the mayor took care of through long-term independent geographical rights to Deal. So they get Eaton OOB and then snap back to their neighborhood rights to Deal. Eaton IB families have no such protection.
I don't go to Eaton or Hardy, but am so sick of this ridiculous canard. The majority of Ward 4 was rezoned to MacFarland, in Ward 4. If you're talking about Shepherd Park, they have always been IB for Deal and the decision to keep them there in this last round of boundary drawing was made before Bowser was mayor. But more than that, most of the kids who live in Shepherd Park go private or they go to Shepherd, not Eaton. But, oh! Maybe you're talking about those undesirables from Mt. pleasant. They live in Ward 1. So you think you're above Hardy. By all means, apply to be (gasp!) OOB somewhere else. I doubt you'd be missed.
