GA is a second tier girls league making desperate moves after losing many of their best teams last year. They added a ton of mediocre clubs last year and continue to face an uphill battle.
City SC, CUP, IMG, TopHat, Lou Fusz, FL United are better clubs than 90% of ECNL… they can all hang with the big dogs…and that’s without having ECNL…. Most clubs would’ve crumbled by now.
Cherry-picking the remaining top 6 clubs in GA doesn't make the league as strong as ECNL. Sure, the top handful could succeed in ECNL, but it's a fast drop-off after that, and the last 2/3 of GA is just not good. Like the last 1/3 of ECNL.
There are only few decent ECNL clubs as well. There are plenty of teams in ECNL in DMV that are struggling
The bolded is wrong on a lot of levels. The (large) majority of the good (Top 30?) girls teams at any age are ECNL teams. GA is a distant second in terms of the number of teams in the top 30. Does that mean there aren't good GA teams and there aren't bad ECNL one? Of course not.
***remove all the CA clubs from the top 30 and you get an even mix…
You can try to change the equation all you want to, but bottom line is that right now, for girls soccer, ECNL is a significantly stronger league top to bottom than GA. It doesn't mean that every ECNL team is better than every GA team. It doesn't mean that every ECNL player is better than very GA player. It doesn't mean that GA players won't be scouted to college or national teams. And who knows what 2/3/4/5+ years will bring, but for the moment, it is what it is. ECNL is the stronger league. The competition is better. College coaches know this, and it plays out in the numbers of commits. US YNT scouts know it was well and it shows in their numbers too. Last year the talent discrepancy got bigger with the GA defections. This coming year maybe it's different and starts to strengthen GA as a whole. And locally, depending on where you are, the GA team may be stronger than the ECNL team. So that could be the best option for your kid.....and that's ok.
No one has said GA is 100% better than ecnl. You are saying people are saying that. ECNL is more deep in clubs than GA at the moments but I bet there are GA clubs that are more established than the one your kid plays on.
My kid play on a GA team. It is what it is. ECNL > GA.
WAGS results say otherwise
WAGS??? Hahahahah. Are you U12?
