No one said they hate teachers.  They said DC teachers are well paid.  And several DC teachers agreed with that.

No, that’s how you have chosen to interpret it.

Others, including me, have explained: 
- it isn’t “summers off”. It’s “unpaid summer” and many of us get second jobs.
- it isn’t “harder than any other job”. It *is* hard, however, and multiple posters without experience have rejected that notion 
- most teachers, even in DCPS, do not get the 100k+ salaries
- clearly teachers aren’t happy with the deal, so they are leaving

You can continue to believe that we are compensated fairly for a cushy job. Maybe that’s true for a 30+ year teacher cruising to retirement. That’s not true for the many younger teachers who will never see a pension because the conditions and pay force them to quit.[/quote]
