Agree.  There is no downside for kids to apply to 20 reach schools.  They need to limit the number of applications.  There are just far too many applications these days to be able to consider applicants fully.[/quote]

Until I had a kid that went through this process, I would have agreed with you.   But even with the common app, each application to a selective college is a lot of work.  Those supplemental essays where you explain why the school and you are a good fit take effort if done correctly. [/quote]
