How about prosecutors and police go back to "fighting crime" and we send criminals to jail for committing crimes?
Have you read anything about this event? They have been arresting them. And, for a change of pace, the police seem willing to do their job.
Because people like you make it so easy. You vote to hamstring their budgets, prevent them from actually arresting criminals, side with the perpetrators of crime, claim to be “police abolishionists” and so forth, but then expect to be able to call on them when needed, but still be free to scrutinize every move. Go on a ride along sometime and get out of you nice cul se sac in Herndon or whatever. Try living in the inner city like I do. I like the police.
I posted yesterday in this thread about the police budgets of Los Angeles, Chicago and New York. The police are not hamstrung by budgets. They do not do their jobs. For the rest of your fictional novel, you don’t know me and couldn’t be any further off base if you tried. Nice series of attempted insults though. And one would think that if you lived in the inner city, you’d notice the lack of policing and might be bothered by that.
All 3 of the police depts. you referenced are currently understaffed. They do their jobs. There just aren't enough of them to cover all the crime in these cities. https://www.nbclosangeles.com/investigations/lapd-staffing-levels-employement-la-police/3201372/ https://www.cbsnews.com/chicago/news/chicago-police-department-resignations-pandemic-mayor-brandon-johnson/ https://nypost.com/2023/03/10/nypd-cops-resigning-from-force-in-2023-at-record-pace/
That still doesn’t address that the current ones don’t do their jobs very well.
