Masks do not work. If I feel like I have been exposed to COVID or another pathogen (coughing child at a school performance etc), I will make sure that I do a nasal flush with xylitol and a gargle. This is proven to reduce any viruses that might be present in mouth and sinuses. It’s simply science. Masking these days is performative or indicative of a person’s mental imbalance. I feel terrible for them, especially children when I run into families still masking.
Not correct. Masks work if everyone uses them properly. Which a lot of people didn't in the US during the height of covid, which contributed to the perception that masks don't work. People still mask who are sick, or immune compromised. It's not performative, it's an attempt at self-preservation. And your nasal flush nonsense isn't helpful.
Don't spread misinformation. Very few people wear masks correctly. First of all, you need to wear the *right* kind of mask. It's surprising how many of the still masking are still clutching on to cloth masks, the same totally useless masks we all wore for the first year or so of the pandemic before CDC finally admitted they did absolutely nothing. And even if you have the *right* kind of mask, you need to wear it properly, which many don't. And you need to wear it *all* the time, not just here and there. And even wearing a proper mask properly doesn't eliminate 100% the risk of getting COVID. I LOVE, just LOVE the people who firmly mask up to go to the supermarket and then go home and hang out with family and friends unmasked. Well, where do you think that person's highest chances of getting COVID always was? Passing someone in the supermarket or spending time with your friend chatting over coffee? D'oh! That's how you know 99% of masking is theatrical anxiety.
