Full Disclosure: I did not read any of the 22 pages of this thread. Just came here to say my family and a group of friends saw the movie last night. There were 18 of us ranging from 80 to 10. We all loved the movie and thought it was hysterical. Afterwards we gathered in one or our houses backyard for dinner and drinks and inevitabley talked about the movie, its themes, the actors, etc. One person said, "just wait for the anti-woke lobby to start screaming about this movie". LOLOLOL I woke up today and saw a few stories about the opening day and guess what? Shockingly, all the outrage and derision was on full display  . God, the far right is SO predictable. Even my teen was like, "what IS their problem?"
It must be so weird to go through life convinced that anyone who doesn’t share your exact same opinions on everything is part of an extremist political faction. Your paranoia is quite something to see. It’s sad you are passing that on to your children, though. I’m a registered Democrat who campaigned for Biden who also thought the movie humorless garbage.
You are a truly miserable person. Stop opening this thread and posting about a movie you don’t even like. It’s totally fine not to enjoy a movie but move on already. It’s sad that you’re probably passing this behavior on to your children.
Is this the new thing on the internet, telling people to "move on" when you don't want to hear their thoughts anymore? As if you have the power!
I think this is the modus operandi of political extremists on both ends these days. They have a lot in common. They try to shut down and suppress any opinion that isn’t within their very narrow world view. PP is on the left, but she shares a lot in common with the extreme right-wingers who are doing things like trying to ban poetry by Amanda Gorman. In her view, Barbie is a political statement, so you must agree with her that it is an amazing movie or you have to be an extreme right-winger. She just can’t account for a worldview where it’s just a crappy movie.
+1 And crazy enough, a corporation artfully made people see the movie as a political statement--very FOX News like, I am seeing the similarities (fierce adherence to party line, resistance to hearing info and thoughts from other parties)
