The poster(s) who feel the need to respond to fashion questions in the fashion board with some variation of: “fashion is so shallow, Wear what you want and be happy. I’m off wearing recycled clothes and curing cancer. I can’t believe people actually care about this stuff.”Etc.
I get you, but the fashion board never has any real fashion on it. It’s just a bunch of posters saying “that’s so fugly” and then responding with something that is, amazingly, even more fugly.
It's tough because I've gotten amazing product recommendations in the fashion and beauty forum, but it's a really terrible place to actually talk about fashion. There are so many people who just murder any normal conversation: - the aforementioned "fashion is so shallow" posters - the posters who are convinced everyone on the thread is in their 50s/60s, overweight, and unfashionable, and will look "ridiculous" in the most mundane clothes - the "in Europe people dress like x" posters, especially when these people are like "In France, women wear striped Breton tees, ballet flats, and berets." - the people who are just intensely angry about certain very popular trends and won't let it go, like the people who cannot fathom why ANYONE wears Birkenstocks or wide leg pants or side cut outs or whatever. These trends are very popular for a reason, it's fine if it's not for you. ... and so many others. Like 90% of the posters in those threads are just ANGRY and don't understand how to have a fun conversation about a light-hearted subject. They are the fashion equivalent of those guys who call into sports radio to rant and rave and make you wonder why they even watch sports, something that is ostensibly supposed to be entertainment?
+1 And I love the poster who insists NO ONE wears shorts, jeans, or sneakers in Europe - that they're all just terribly sophisticated and above that. What a crock. We go to Europe every year and that's all most people wear. What a poseur. DP
