I was a Democrat in the 1990s (I am still a Democrat). Being a Democrat in the 1990s did not mean that you believed in gay marriage; it meant that you [u]opposed[/u] gay marriage. The Defense of Marriage Act passed in 1996 by 342-67 in the House and 85-14 in the Senate (Biden voted for it), and it was signed by President Bill Clinton.

So I'm not very worried about anything else you say.
