I don’t consider reaching for words after a stroke to be a mental impairment. His thoughts on policy are clear. I don’t care to hear politicians pander to the camera for sound bites. He’ll be a good senator.
+1 [twitter]https://twitter.com/maggieastor/status/1585397581710258177?s=61&t=-SOwFQ7rbPUikaJ--4HeWg[/twitter]
You don’t think it’s important for a US Senator to be able to process information and communicate effectively? Well you found your candidate I suppose but perhaps you might want to be a bit more thoughtful about what qualifies a person to be Senator. And btw, I’m not at all a fan of oz but objectively fetterman is a dismal candidate even setting aside his health.
DH just told me he was on a group Zoom call with national leaders in his field-- and Fetterman--last week. He said Fetterman did not stumble on his words or need any special equipment like a transcription machine or teleprompter. It was a small group (10 or under) and Fetterman didn't seem to have prepared remarks, so maybe he does better in a smaller setting where he can be himself. I asked DH twice to clarify whether or not Fetterman seemed to stumble over words or hesitate and he answered both times that he did not. So I'm going with that piece of insight into Fetterman's mental acuity--and not what anyone else says.
Sounds anecdotal, and therefore irrelevant. His performance last night is what he should be judged on.
PP here. Yes, I now it is anecdotal and of no consequence voters, but I just offer it because I find it interesting. It makes me wonder whether Fetterman's performance on TV last night was exacerbated by nervousness, anxiety, etc. The good news is that if he wins, he should be able to do the job.
Why are you so desperate to ignore his shortcomings. If he hadn’t bombed the debate would you still think he was a qualified candidate? All I see is a lifelong loser with bad policy and a disqualifying infirmity.
