the list below is bad. . DeMatha at 5 is a joke. Mitchell hasn't proved he can coach HS ball, big difference between coaching club ball and HS. STA will be lucky to crack the top 4 in the IAC. This is ridiculous. #1 St. John's is the defending champion and #1 until someone in the area actually beats them. Period. #2 Agree Bullis is probably next but their depth is questionable, as they got manhandled in Geico. #3 Prep is what they always are - great on paper, but just missing something. This year will be no different. #4 GZ is next but there is a serious drop off after #3. Their defense will be good, but not great. Their offense will be virtually invisible this season. #5 Dematha will surprise a lot of people with this being Mitchell's 2nd year. #6 - St Alban's will be a lot like GZ. Great D but no O. #7 - #10 - Toss-up between EHS, SSSAS, PVI and Landon. SSSAS probably has the edge with their coaching and their off-season recruiting especially on offense. EHS is one dimensional even counting their UVA commit. Landon and PVI have athletes but no coaching.
1.St John's refused to play in the DC Championships. Period 2. Bullis lost by 3 to Salisbury and it was a 1 goal game with 1:30 to play 3. Prep will play like a team now that they lost their FO guy 4. GZ will be better than the end of their season but not as good as the start of their season 5. DeMatha was very good last year with a new coach, expect big things from them. 6. St Alban's strong face-off play will provide enough possessions to pull off BIG upset this year 7 - 10 PVI talented but seem to always falter. SSSAS lost too much. EHS does not have enough horses. Landon should be much higher.
The WCAC and the school have a rule - plain and simple. Would it have been great to watch but after 20+ games, I think the question was settled. Bullis lost multiple times. So, we'll see what this year brings. Prep lost its best player and nearly lost its coach in the off-season. GZ is just not good. The rest of them will be fighting each other with StA and SSSAS likely to surprise some people. But get over it, St John's was the best and PP was right, they have to lose for any of the rest to be considered contenders.
