Can I make you think about specifically which times in the last fifty years that the House had a liberal Democratic majority with enough votes to pass something like this, while simultaneously also having a 60-vote filibuster-proof majority to pass it on the Senate side, with a conference committee in agreement? Fill me in.[/quote]

Between April 2009 and January 2010, the Democrats had a filibuster proof 60 vote margin in the Senate. It was when they passed the Affordable Care Act without a single Republican vote. That’s not counting pro-choice Republicans (and there are some).  They could have passed an abortion bill, if they had wanted to do so. The reality is that there are always red and purple state Democrats who do not want to vote on abortion as an issue. [/quote]

Who would have thought this might happen in our lifetimes? The US is imploding. I guess the Rs did want to burn it all down.
