I don’t know that this is the victory you think it is.  If passed this won’t go into effect until July so schools will be able to require masking through the end of this school year if they so choose.  Most people have expected mask mandates to be gone for next year anyway, so this is a pretty empty “win.”

And if we are still meaningfully dealing with covid next school year, the trade off under this bill for banning mask mandates is that schools can go fully virtual for up to two weeks if there is a surge.  Hope your kids like virtual learning![/quote]

And then it will instantly lose a lot of that Dem support it needs to pass.  Youngkin would have to be a total moron to risk another failure like that.  This bill lets him save face on his botched EO. If he starts another battle and loses, he will quickly cement himself as an utterly ineffective governor.  Not a good look for his future political ambitions.[/quote]
