Unfortunately, when enough people butcher a word, MW will adopt it at as a second usage. It sucks, because now nonplussed apparently means two things that are the exact opposite. This also happened with the word "literally." Now it means both literally and figuratively. Problem is, now we have no word for literally. But I wouldn't continue to "misuse" either if you want to come across as word smart. Most people still consider the second definition of nonplussed to be inaccurate. [/quote]
