I agree residents should have voting representation in Congress. DC borders should include the White House, the Capitol, the Mall, and all contiguous federal land. The residential areas should be offered back to Maryland because it is Maryland’s land. MD state government can then either accept or formally reject. If they reject, the residential areas become a new state with a new name.
I support DC statehood. -Maryland resident
I support DC rejoining MD. -DC resident
Ward map https://planning.dc.gov/whatsmyward DC as 1 Maryland County or split between wards with some to MOCO, some PG, some DC county and wards 2 and 6 split removing residential where possible and forming a federal district? Or that part to Arlington? Now on taxes. If I'm a retiree getting 65k annually from pension plus social security I'd pay MOCO is 1.79 times the taxes as DC and higher property taxes. Need a count on residential real estate in wards 2 and 6. Everything else is any easy spin-off to Maryland- a DC county, some to MOCO, some to PG. The above is logical but one goal for some is to get 2 more senators for a voting block. A weird state boundary today is DE and MD. The whole peninsula could become DE and maybe leave the tail totally in VA? Ocean City would be in DE.
