So did Pipeline get rejected by ECNL or still unknown? They seem to have been putting out some decent teams without that designation so maybe it doesn't matter as much to them.
Of the clubs out there, Pipeline is more than deserving. First, it has a trac-record of developing great teams and players. Second, there is not an ECNL club in the Baltimore area.
Celtic is an ECNL club, in Baltimore. Pipeline has done a superb job marketing itself and selling what parents want (rankings, wins, etc.).
But you don't get to Pipeline's level without developing talent.
What is their "level"? They have a couple of really good teams, 07 and 06 boys preacademy specifically, but a significant amount of players from those two teams were acquired/built at other clubs. Which is fine, that's the way it works in youth soccer. But they're no more deserving than any other area club. As has been written they do a great job marketing and selling what parents crave, which = my DS/DD is on the # [whatever ] ranked team in the state, great record and a goals scored to goals conceded rations, featuring teams on social media, etc. Those don't necessarily equate to development.
Can’t speak to 06 but a good chunk of the 07 pa team has been the same for 4 or 5 years so since the ulittles, same for 09. In any case, my child is not on the pa team and we have been pretty happy with the coaching and overall development at Pipeline. Every single player from his team returned last year, although they were all not placed on the same team, of this group, most have been with Pipeline for at least 3 years. We briefly tried another club and pretty quickly returned to Pipeline. No club is perfect but they really are pretty good about responding to areas that need improvement. This is all on the boy’s side, no experience with girls.
A lot of the 07 Preacademy boys came from "Pipeline" North which was actually another team/club that was recruited to be part of Pipeline. About 6 of the kids from that team joined the regular Pipeline team when they went from U11 to U12 when the North team folded. And they just took kid from MdUnited and added him to their team prior to the Jefferson Cup. But this happens all the time in youth soccer. No big deal. The point isn't that Pipeline is "bad", just that they're not special when it comes to developing soccer players. They are, however, at a level above the other clubs in terms of marketing and promotion.
And I am saying that having a child who plays for them, they do more than just marketing right. I know a number of kids, boys and girls, who started with the club at u9 or younger, and are still with them five years later.
It's good you're pleased with you club. There are several people that stay at several clubs and and are also pleased. But, again, the point isn't that Pipeline is "bad", just that they're not special when it comes to developing soccer players.
