Were these people on the Grand Princess to Mexico City out of SF? That would fit the timing and the international location. In every other case, the international location has been released without compromising privacy. If so, there could be other people in our area or other places in the US who caught it on the ship. IF not, please say where the MD people were so we can put that to rest for now. And tell us what happened to the passengers that disembarked in SF and left CA. CA is tracking down the Californians. Who is tracking the others?
That is what I surmise. Last night MD officials said CDC reached out to Maryland to test these people. And on NPR this morning they said CDC was reaching out to all folks who were on that ship.
They probably went to church and shook hands with hundreds of people. They probably went to Giant (or COSTCO or both). The disease is probably in the wild here now with no way to stop it. They almost certainly went to the store after getting back from a two week cruise. People infected take 1-2 weeks to show symptoms. That means people that caught it from them might only now be showing symptoms and if they caught my towards the end of last month we won’t know for another two weeks. Plus those people are infecting others. It’s uncontainable. That said, the numbers should be low right now. In another 3 or 4 weeks it could be thousands. Knowing the US we won’t try to slow the spread until the hospitals are full and people are dying from lack of care. Those will be PREVENTABLE deaths. Preventable by taking step now.
