While I get it this is an issue. Groceries stores and self checkouts are the same idea. Giant, Safeway and HT have no cashiers where I live before 10am. Also, Giant and Safeway try really hard to keep staff at part time so they do not have to pay benefits.

Target corp is horrible in this area. Not only do they not treat employees well they try really hard to get rid of employees as they move up the payscale so Target does not have to pay.

One thing Amazon does well, is for their warehouse workers they have excellent benefits, excellent track record for employee development and giving enough hours to workers who want them. The complaints we hear from their workers are mostly from people who are lazy. I'm not saying the warehouse jobs are great at all, but if someone is a hard worker they can get an education paid for and get a better life.
