We're paying $10k less after making $40k more. 401k and 529 funds are 35% up since 2016. What's not to like.
What’s your HHI?
In the four hundred k.
So yes, if you’re wealthy, which 400k annually most certainly is, you are getting a great deal from the tax cuts. Actual middle class people are getting screwed.
I am an actual middle class person—HHI about $100K in the Rust Belt and we got our best refund yet. Will be voting Trump again.
Why do you think the amount of the refund is important? The important amount is your total tax bill. Did you pay more or less in taxes than last year? The refund amount is just based on your withholdings - and they changed the withholdings this year so you can't compare to last year.
The NYT has an article today showing that the vast majority of Americans have got a tax cut...but many of them, especially Dems, don't realize that. Either they are very bad at math or have been brainwashed by the media, or most likely both
The conned cons don't count the benefits taken away from them while they get a meager tax cut. Also people in blue states were targeted for NET tax increases by capping the state/local tax deductions. The rich guys got more tax cut as a percent and the corporate tax cuts are permanent while the personal tax cuts expire. So if you get a meager tax cut but your healthcare premiums went up or your education budget was cut and your college tuition went up or the student debt subsidy is eliminated, what good is the tax cut?
+1 Exactly. You may get a "tax cut" of 100$, but with other spending cut, your family is worse off.
