Maybe he’s trying to not show up his father. If it’s a choice between Charles & William (with William having better optics), maybe Wills is taking himself out of the running for now. He doesn’t want his father to be miserable to not get chosen.

We know it will be Charles bc the queen labeled him as the next Lord if the realm or whatever it was at the meeting this year. [/quote]
