Let's move the decimal place here. Even at historically established football powerhouses like Mater De, Bosco, Aquinas, etc, their players have a <1% chance of making it to the NFL.

Let's take IMG for example since they have the most amount of active players in the NFL. IMG started playing football in 2013. They currently have 21 active NFL players and 31 players ever drafted. Let's UNDER exaggerate and say that every year they have at least 100 kids in the football program across their multiple teams (they have far more). So 1200 athletes in 12 years, only 31 made the NFL. That's roughly 2.5%...

No way STJ's current roster 5xs the odds.

The top 10% of players on a team ranked in the top 20 in the nation in fact at that point in time have a legitimate shot at the NFL at that moment in time. They are 4 star and 5 star recruits.

There is not a single player ranked a 4 or 5 star by ESPN, 247, or any other ranking service on STJ…

STJ is also not ranked in the Top 20 in the nation. MaxPreps ranking is all that matters.

I mean...they are ranked #2 in the DMV and absolutely destroyed Good Counsel.  I am sure a game against Dematha would have been a great game...hopefully they schedule more WCAC teams next year.

Good Counsel went 6-5 during a down year, not exactly a great measurement benchmark.

Yes, the top 5 Virginia teams are outside the DMV.

Good Counsel had a far more difficult schedule than any of the Virginia teams you are talking about. Those teams probably wouldn’t come out on the winning end if they had to face Good Counsel.  Look at what happened when Oscar Smith played Gonzaga.

And most NFL players were only 2 or 3 stars in high school.   Five stars make up about .01% of the NFL.  There is far too much transformation that needs to occur to tell if a high school kid will make it to the NFL.  However, the two kids I know that play for Saint James dominate the way a future NFL player would’ve when they played high school football.[/quote]

One kid that I know who dominates is a sophomore d-lineman and he wouldnt get a star rating until closer to his senior year.

The other is a wide receiver and 3 star Maryland commit.  He has the size and speed.  Again, a lot needs to happen, but I can see these two getting there.

Josh Allen was a 2 star, Dak was a 3 star, Patrick Mahomes was a 3 star, Lamar Jackson was a 3 star, etc.

If he dominates like you say he does as a sophomore, he’d have a star rating. For example, Stone Bridge has 2 sophomores already rated as 4 stars and 247 already has a top 100 for the class of 2028.

I’m not putting any stock into an any star rating. I know walk-ons who have made the league and ranked players who didn’t make it thru their first year of college. All I’m doing is pointing out that you/whoever said that “STJ is 4 & 5 star players”, is simply not true at all. Josiah is arguably their best player and is only a 3 star.

People say random bs that they think sounds good/believable that just flat out isn’t true. Just trying to stop the misinformation.
