Can someone please lay out what exactly was positive about Hogan as a governor and how this is enough to carry him to the Senate? He screwed up enough in my view between the Purple line and the red line and nothing really notable during his term. The map is very bad for democrats and the current conservative Supreme Court is enough of a deterrent to electing Republicans who could hold up new Democratic nominees. It feels like there are just conservative shills all over this board.
The Hogan supporters here are saying that they like Hogan because he’ll hem and haw a little bit before he votes to confirm Trump’s SC nominees.
No, we are saying that these hypothetical Trump SC nominees aren’t enough to convince us we have to vote for Alsobrooks (who I actually do think is great and would vote for if Hogan weren’t running) or Trone. The most likely next departures from the SC are Thomas and Alito, so Trump picking their successor isn’t really changing the makeup of the court. Larry Hogan is also an adult at a time where there are far too few adults in Congress who are pragmatic and want to get something done other than just screaming into the echo chamber.
