I have voted for Hogan in the past and will vote for him again. He has proven himself to be a caring, dedicated, hardworking, and very responsible/ responsive public servant. He cares about Maryland deeply. Trone is a filthy-rich fat-cat who made his billions peddling alcohol but acts like he’s always done the right thing for the community. He basically purchased his seat by massively out-spending his opponents. Now all he does is hob-knob with other billionaire do- outings littering the senate. Sad truth is: Trone is all about Trone and his own inflated billionaire ego.
Larry Hogan has promised to caucus with Republicans and block all of Joe Biden’s Supreme Court nominees.
I think you need to take a hint from the comments here and realize Democrats need to do better than yelling “he’ll caucus with Republicans” to try and sway moderates away from Hogan. News flash, we know he’s a Republican, and we still voted for him for governor and think he’ll be a great Senator. Why don’t you try to explain why Trone would be a better senator and what he brings to the table other than just being a Democrat.
+1
To anyone reading this who hasn’t yet made up their mind: Hogan will vote for Trump’s Supreme Court nominees. Trone will vote for Biden’s Supreme Court nominees. That’s all you need to know. Please ignore the nonsense rationalizations put forward by the Hogan apologists and go into this election with your eyes open. If you want Trump’s Supreme Court nominees, vote for Hogan. Because that’s what you’ll be getting. Not “moderation”. Trump’s SC nominees.
This is all based on the premise that Trump wins and that a liberal justice retires/dies during this presumed Trump presidency. To the best of all of our knowledge Sotomayor, Kagan and Brown Jackson are not in ill health, nor are they likely to retire during a hypothetical Trump presidency. Trump replacing say, Clarence Thomas, doesn’t change anything it keeps the status quo, so I would only consider the liberal justices in this scenario. I just find all of this too attenuated to force me into voting against Hogan. YMMV.
Do you want Biden to have the chance to potentially replace Thomas or Alito if they die or have to retire? And how would you feel if you voted for Hogan and his victory was the only thing holding that up?
Yeah, this isn’t swaying me. My vote for Larry Hogan isn’t what’s holding it up, it is the overall dysfunction in our political system. To be frank I think Congress needs an infusion of politicians like Larry Hogan to become somewhat functional again.
Well, no, it's not, because you haven't voted for him yet, and he hasn't been elected yet. However, your vote for Larry Hogan, if he gets elected, will contribute to the overall dysfunction in our political system.
Great that is your opinion! It is not realistic to assume Republicans will never win an election. Hogan is a sane human and one the republican party needs to get them away from the inbred MAGAs
You know, a really good way to do this would be to run against Trump for the Republican presidential nomination. As a 2-term governor, he had the perfect amount of experience. Yet he ran away from the fight. Larry Hogan does not give a damn about making the Republican Party more moderate. He’s just an opportunist.
