He has stayed away from alcohol because alcoholism killed his brother and it scared him. He has not stayed away from drugs. An assistant from The Apprentice production staff has said publicly that Trump abused stimulants so badly it lead to his bowel incontinence, which necessitates his wearing adult diapers. Trump has never threatened to sue that assistant for slander.

Trump is known to have little control over his most basic instincts: he can’t keep his mouth shut, he can’t stop lying, he can’t act presidential, he has manhandled other world leaders to jockey for a position front and center during photo ops, he needs one more scoop of ice cream than everyone else, he has cheated on all three of his wives, he makes sexual comments about his own daughters — even when one was just a baby, he made a sexual comment about Michael Cohen’s 15 year old daughter directly to Michael Cohen’s face, he bragged about “inspecting” the backstage dressing rooms at the Miss Teen USA pageant because the contestants were all in various states of undress, he sexually abused E. Jean Carroll in a public space, he barebacked a porn star even though he’s a germaphobe.

I understand that. I grew up in Trump country.  They have access to CNN and MSNBC and city newspapers at Sheetz.  I get that some of them are truly not reachable, but many of them are smart enough to ask questions and know that there are other places they can go online and watch on tv if they decided they’d like a second opinion.

I also know a lot of UMC southern Trumpers who are smart, wealthy, educated, and brainwashed by their churches and social culture to support anyone with an R by their name. Because they’re racist and classist,  they are still fighting the civil war, and think god have them wealth because they’re such “good Christians”. Not only this, cell data from Jan 6 showed many participants lived in blue cities! They are the finance folks at car dealerships, middle managers, and dentists who ride Harley’s on the weekends. They aren’t all brainwashed mega church goers or good old boys.

Case in point. Here is Alan Dershowitz at Martha’s Vineyard arguing with a police officer. Alan has not been brainwashed by a mega church, Alan is not a forgotten man. We need to stop giving MAGA a pass like they are anymore “real Americans” than those of us who oppose MAGA.
