The fact of the matter is that people who are having late term abortions are not doing it for sh*ts and grins. These are people who have bought furniture, painted rooms, dreamed of names etc and then are faced with a horrific choice.

It is extremely rare, yes. But it’s definitely not “no one.”  This woman aborted her healthy 7-month fetus. The mother’s life/health also were not in danger.

“ Vial was 22 at the time. She had recently ended her relationship and said she was sure she did not want to continue the pregnancy.

"I was already having a tough time in my life in a lot of other ways and it just felt like one more thing I really couldn't bear, or provide for, and I was panicked, I guess," Vial said.

Vial found a clinic in New Mexico that told her they would end her pregnancy up until 28 weeks — the beginning of the third trimester.

She scrambled, with the help of family, friends and a nonprofit that helps women pay for abortions, to pull together the fee of more than $10,000.

"[There were] a lot of people telling me how they felt about my situation without me asking — friends, family, strangers," Vial said. "I mean, you tell someone that you're seven months pregnant and having an abortion, they've got some things to say."

"People I thought were my friends made it clear to me that they disapproved," she said. "And that's fine. It wasn't changing my mind."”

But that’s what they do. One mtf trans athlete in a state so let’s all trans athletes from participating in school sports. One abortion for reasons other than physical health after possible viability* for reasons other than physical** health of the mother or fetus so let’s ban all abortions, even for children who are raped by their parents.

*I sincerely think, based on past examples of ignorance of Republican politicians and the American public at large, but especially conservative religious anti choice types, that people think viability means the baby will likely live and become a healthy, neurotypical, fully functional adult. Babies born prematurely are at higher risk for all sorts of health issues. The earlier they’re born, the more significant risks they face. It’s not like you can give women an option of carrying to 24 weeks then letting her deliver a healthy baby instead of having an abortion.
