Here’s an article re: the death declaration. It’s not a thing in DR without evidence of crime or a body. It’s pretty unprecedented even in US less than 2 weeks into an investigation. I hope the parents were united re this.

DR does not even have a provision for this in law. In US typically after 7 years.

Patting her was support. Grabbing her shoulder with his fingers and trying to physically force her to turn back and face the cameras was uncomfortable. She continued to resist until he let go.

The father chose to read the statement publicly and to make the request she be declared dead. The parents may not be in 100% agreement. There is not even a provision for such a declaration in DR or even US law after 11 days. Leaving the DR after 3 days, after the video was released, was also odd. Usually 1 family member, at least, would stay to be part of the search. [/quote]
