But has it been anyone's experience that teachers are skipping ahead because there are older kids in the class, or that older kids are more able to handle difficult concepts and assignments?  My son and his best (female) friend are the two youngest kids in their class in 2nd, but they are also the 2 most advanced students and the only 2 in talented and gifted.  They are also the most socially immature, and mostly just friends with one another.  [/quote]
