Again, it's political not because it actually is political, but because political partisans, and the Tea Party in particular have taken it up as a political issue. Note that none of the teachers' unions have actually put forward any unified statements, let alone specific talking points opposing Common Core - the oft-repeated but never substantiated "developmentally inappropriate" comments for example are NOT coming from the teachers' unions.
