This is the weirdest thread I've ever read. My child does not need a freakin' meal at a party, unless it's held at lunch or dinner time. Cake and juice is more than enough. Surprisingly, I can go several hours without feeding my face. Seriously, how fat are you people? Are you the same moms that carry snacks and drinks everywhere you go? An afternoon party certainly does not require that the hosts provide a meal.
I know! I truly cannot BELIEVE how many people feel so strongly about this?!?!?!?!?? It is just the oddest issue to me!!! It is like you are taking their binky away from them, or something, if they cannot have access to food or drinks for 1.5-2 hours. They are PANICKING!!
Another poster in agreement, here. Unless the party is during lunch or dinner time, why would anyone need to provide food besides a freakin' cake? Kids and adults don't need to eat every 1.5-2 hours, unless they have a medical issue. Even when we we've attended lunch hour parties, the kids hardly touch the food. All they want to do is get up and play.
Yeah, the kids always eat two bites of the pizza, three bites of the cake (frosting only), and then get bored and move on. I only have a DD and no sons, so maybe this is just with girl parties, but, really, there's so much food left over anyway, it's just criminal.
We hosted a party at My Gym. Those kids could barely sit still for the cake. They only had an hour and a half of playtime. All they wanted to do was run wild.
