Gus and Nola
Hipster parents. Always trying to figure out how to move to Brooklyn, or even better, Queens which is the new Brooklyn. The kids wear Converse, and ONLY Converse, and Nola is encouraged to be a tomboy but both parents secretly think it's cute when she insists on going out in a baseball jersey with a tutu. Mom has a tramp stamp. Dad has a tattoo on his upper arm and tries to have street creed by talking about when he'll be able to get a half sleeve. Mom doesn't quite fit in with the other preschool moms, and kind of wants to but also wants to be her badass self. She cringes every time she meets another Gus.
Can I add that mom and dad insist on Saturday morning family time which involves French press coffee and listening to vinyl records while the children eat expensive donuts and put on puppet shows?
You got my H correct. He wants to move to Brooklyn (where his mom grew up). (Me, not so much.) Yes on Converse. (Except when they wear Vans or sports shoes.) Yes on Nola. Messy girl in a tutu. Soccer or football jersey. Mom HATES tatoos. Dad has a tattoo on his upper arm. (No plan for a sleeve - God I hope not.) Mom does not fit in with preschool moms (but that was years ago). I am not a bad ass - just a computer geek. (or maybe I am a badass but have not realized it yet) I do secretly wish I had a clue what these women were talking about. I am happy when I meet a Gus because I was not so sure about it and it validates my decision - which I think is pathetic. Dad would probably play vinyl records if we had them. Is krispy kreme expensive? Good job!
