For me it comes down to the fact that they were 18 and 21 years old, and coud simply have left the family rather than murder their parents in such a brutal manner. It's hard to buy the self-defense claims. The financial piece was apparently huge. All of the justifications and obfuscations don't change that. Their remorse comes across as tepid at best. I understand the paternal relatives feel guilty about not protecting them when they were children and want to make up for that. And the parents were truly awful and abusive. Does that justify murder, especially with so much premeditation and calculation before and after the fact? I don't think so.[/quote]
