[/quote] These kids who are held back don’t test well. Who would hold back a child born in March if they were academically advanced. No one. My Boston area suburb had cut off dates of December 31 and the only one held back were some boys with immaturity or learning disabilities. A typical case of holding back was my brother who was born in October. He had learning disabilities and had to repeat first grade. I don’t think it was something that was done for no reason. The schools were in charge not the parents with regard to being held back. It was not a desirable thing to have to do. [/quote]
