And, many of them would be quite happy to be rid of their theocratic rulers.  Regime change would be a satisfactory outcome for both Israel and for most Iranians.  Relatively few of those 90M Iranians would be anxious to prop up their current government in the face of a challenge from Israel.  As far as defeating Gaza goes, not much in the way of a functional society exists there any more; Israel has chosen to let most of the Gazans live, despite the Gazan responsibility for placing Hamas in power and keeping it there.  Gaza sure seems emasculated, enfeebled, and mostly destroyed.  If that's not a reasonable definition of "defeat", I don't know what is.  Maybe you want to see no Gazan left standing before you'll concede defeat?  [/quote]

DP but  defeat is based on Israel meeting its military goals. Their stated goal is to destroy Hamas and the second goal is to find all their hostages.

They don’t even put Israeli ground soldiers in Gaza. Everything’s done in the air.

Occupy what? Israel is a headless chicken bombing things left and right. That’s the only strategy they have. Their own army and cabinet has major dissent and internal squabbles. The prime minister is holding on to any power he can and does not want to get investigated and thrown in jail so he wants his country at war. He’s sacrificing his own country’s security for short term political goals.  [/quote]
