The reactions from key GOP Senators as well as members of the House Armed Services Committee have been extremely telling.

However, literally as I type this, GOP congressional delegations are meeting to select new leadership. There is no question to me that one reason Trump announced so many of his major appointments last night is that he is leaning heavily on everyone running to replace McConnell to guarantee his appointments are going to get through. But this is the one appointment he's made that I think poses a real problem if they go through a normal Senate confirmation process. Rick Scott is on Armed Services. I guarantee there are some heated conversations being had right now between Trump's team and perhaps Trump himself, and the three senators running for leader (Scott, Cornyn, Thune) about this specific nomination. There will be senators difficult to corral on this one.[/quote]
