This post is a reminder that my mom used to say that your kids should sleep over someone else’s house for an overnight at some point before they are too old. (Someone they feel close to, of course.) Her reasoning was that if they have had a calm, happy sleepover experience (without their parents) it won’t seem so traumatic if they have to do it again (due to a family crisis/parental hospitalization ). She just said ideally the first time would not be combined with stress.

I am not at all chastising OP, just sharing that wisdom with others. [/quote]
