I didn’t start this thread. This thread doesn’t disparage atheists. It discusses atheists, which apparently is offensive to you. You called praying, gaslighting yourself. Then another poster compared prayer to a mental disorder. People post questions about religion here, and alot of atheists chime in and give their opinions. But when people ask questions about atheism, it’s antagonistic? It’s really not. You are just offended people are disagreeing with your opinions. You should not be so sensitive- especially after you called prayer “gaslighting.”
Most atheists know more about religion than religious people know about atheism, for the simple reason that religion is so pervasive in our society -- also many atheists were once religious themselves. The fact that non-belief is growing while religious belief and observance is shrinking is indicative of interest in the subject of atheism. People, irrespective of beliefs, can become prickly when challenged. It's just human nature. There are antagonistic people who are believers and who are non-believers. I think a lot of people tune into these discussions, without commenting, to think through religion on their own. I think that's an important function of forums like this, despite, and maybe because of, some of the adolescent sparring often found here.
