Is any of this going to budge the electorate?
I'm pretty sure the news about Herschel this week will make many of his R "family values" supporters like him even more.
Herschel Walker was an outstanding and much beloved UGA football player who rose to stardom after growing up in a small rural community with few opportunities for anyone, especially if Black. I think voters will cut him a lot of slack.
I think many that vote for him will relate to his hypocrisy, more than they're willing to overlook his hypocrisy.
+1
I doubt either of you is a Black resident of Georgia.
You do realize that Walker is running against an incumbent black Senator, right? It isn't voting for the black candidate against the white candidate. It's voting for the better black candidate, in this case. So, do you have a black candidate who was a football player, but seems to have CTE, has a shady and questionable past, has frequently cheated on the partner he is with, had children with multiple women and has a child who is decrying him for lying about his past and being an abusive partner and parent. Vs a black candidate who is an upstanding pastor who has been in office for 2 years and does not have a shady and questionable past, but an admirable one with a lot of great achievements for both his congregation and his consituency while in office. I think black residents of Georgia can finally stop considering race and consider the character of the candidate that they are voting for. They will have black representation for the residents of Georgia either way. They have the luxury of being able to vote for the better candidate rather than trying to ensure that they have valid race conscious representation.
