Good for Karl Frisch for standing by his principles and vigorously defending these quality publications.
Yes! And fighting against the homophobia and misinformation.
Very courageous to stand up for our child’s right to look at graphic images of fourth grade bjs! Thank you Karl! The world is a better place and kids are so much more enriched with you at the table.
History is really not on your side, dope. When has book banning ever gone well? You have NEVER read the books and you’re not even remotely accurate. You don’t care though because you’re just stoking the outrage fire as intended.
So the school libraries should be able to stock ANY book and it "won't go well" if a group of parents want it removed? What an interesting perspective.
No, it doesn’t go well when a bunch of credulous dupes are screaming for books to be removed…when they HAVENT EVEN READ ThE BOOKS. I stand by my assertion that that never does well, no. Any parent can initiate a book challenge after readings book in its entirety. Removing books from library shelves isn’t usually hook banning…it’s called “weeding” and it happens every year when school librarians remove books that are outdated, damaged, or no longer suitable for the collection. A book may be reconsidered through the challenge process and a committee may decide that it is no longer suitable. That is VERY different than showing up at a School Board meeting for a political stunt, cherry picking quotes and completely mischaracterizing them to stoke maximum outrage.
Boo hoo. I’m more concerned about the radical and perverted ideas that FCPS seems intent on “planting” than strict adherence to your “weeding” protocol. It’s not like this School Board doesn’t routinely disregard existing procedures when it serves their own agendas.
