The $500m for Israel or any other foreign country is not part of the relief bill. They jammed the relief bill together with a bunch of appropriations bills to pass it as one big omnibus
Why are foreign countries getting millions from us and our citizens are losing jobs and going hungry?
A very small percentage of the annual budget goes to foreign aid each year. We are far and away the richest country in the world and we give less aid proportionally than most developed countries. A lot of the aid we give is spent in the US. For instance we give billions in foreign military financing, which is spent on US military contractors. Giving aid to LDCs helps prevent conflict by stabilizing those countries which saves us lots of money in the long run. We've also paid for many of the peace deals such as Israel/Jordan, Israel/Egypt, Sudan etc.
