The last of the "Great" local teams are now over. FCV U19/18 and McLean U19/18 teams. Both made good runs in their respective leagues. Why the success with those teams? Because they had been well established since ECNL. This area will not see that concentration of quality players again as long as we have such a diluted landscape.
Pop the thumb out your mouth broski. The U18/U19 is the weakest age group in both DA and ECNL People with real knowledge know that the U16 and U17 age groups are the toughest age groups in the nation. The composite age groups are really hit or miss.
What is the toughest age group was not the point.
It should be because you are basing your "greatness" comment on it.
FCV is the top local team in DA at both U16 and U17 age groups. Mclean is first in U17 age group in ECNL and second in U16 age group. BRYC is first in U16 age group and second in U17 age group.
And neither teams are even close to the nations top teams unlike the U19/18s.
Neither are the 19s. Again, this composite age group always has and will always be a mixed bag. However, the U17 age group is the real deal. That's why area teams never bring home top results in that age group.
No, it hasn't. However, my point has flown over yours. The "great" area teams were not built from the ground up. They were built via talent acquisition throughout the years. Some of the acquisition was recruting. Some of it was self-motivated player movement. As long as good players are free to move, talent will find a way to consolidate.
Point to a current local great U17 team then.
That's my point. You cant. They only become "great" when entering the u18/U19 age group when it's easier to snatxh a title because teams start falling apart in those years because of graduation. Are you tracking yet?
