I'm not PP but you're referring to the subset of academic superstars who would've gotten As whether they were in public or private.  I'm guessing that the beef is with those in private schools who get As due to grade inflation/low standards/whatever but would likely struggle with the increased rigor at certain top private schools.[/quote]
