I think this provides great context for all of us who don't regularly follow tennis.  I definitely think there was a double standard and Ramos overstepped his authority.

However, I wish Serena had behaved more graciously so there would be no question of the unfairness.  Nobody made her smash her racquet.  Her acceptance speech was OK but could have been better.  Yes she told the crowd to stop booing but she kept the spotlight on herself.  She could have said even more about Naomi  - that she outplayed her and completely earned her title.  I wish she hadn't played the mother card when saying she wasn't a cheater.  Sports greats such as Serena are not cheaters regardless of their parental status.[/quote]
