She's a journalist/commentator with the Root.  So yes, she has a job.  If her employer deems her too offensive, her employer can fire her.  Just like ABC, Rosanne Barr's employer, fired Barr.

Everyone is entitled to free speech - not being locked up or jailed or killed for expressing your beliefs.  There are still consequences, though.  Using racial epithets on Twitter rants if you are a TV personality on a "family friendly" channel, may get you fired.  [/quote]

It appears that no amount of explaining will get this point through to some. Roseanne's transgression was not that her tweet was offensive, but that it was racist. You can be offensive and not be racist. The Root reporter's tweet was, in my opinion, offensive. But, was it racist? I don't know the answer to that, but I would be interested to hear what our posters of color think about it. It is definitely not a clear cut case as it was with Roseanne.
