Is it typical for a local LE to go to another country in situations like this?
No. Not at all.
But could they go if *someone* pays for their ticket and lodging? Just as an example and not saying this has happened in this case and honestly haven't ever heard of it happening, but what if a church group were to hire their local LE to go check on things somewhere that's not in US if members of their church were in situation or in an incident involving them? Could a Barney level person do that as a private officer or if they go would they be doing so as a LE rep from U.S.?
Since it happened here, presumably it could happen in other instances , no?
Did Loudoun Sheriff go by request of young woman's family or...??
Why don’t you call LC and ask if you care so much and are a VA taxpayer?
This is not only about VA taxpayers. A question for any LE in US. Do they insert themselves into situations when it happens outside US? Not asking about FBI but a local county sheriff office.
You could start a new thread and ask if posters are familiar with other cases. And hope you never need to find out directly.
