Based on her kids’ ages, the fact that she was able to get pregnant naturally, and the age of the actor who plays her husband (47), I’d guess the show is placing LTW in her mid-40s.
Whether the character is mid-40s, late 40s, or early 50s, that’s still a very statistically high likelihood that the pregnancy will end in miscarriage. I don’t know why people wanted more abortion-talk storyline out of it. This was a realistic and relatable outcome.
I agree. When she was crying about being pregnant in bed I knew she would have a miscarriage. It’s just the most likely thing to happen. I also knew because they didn’t tell their kids. It was obvious that would happen.
I think she is mid-40s. Nya is about that age, Samantha was older than the other original three, so I don't know why posters assume LTW has to be in her 50s. Miscarriage statistics are high, but not that high at that point in a pregnancy. LTW had been exhausted and falling asleep for at a least several weeks already, so she must have been 10-12 weeks pregnant by then. One clue that made me think she had a medical abortion-- At the end of their conversation in bed, Herbert says to her she'll find a way to manage her career, family, and new baby, "You always do." She turned away and said to herself, yeah, I always do. You could tell she felt she was kind of on her own at that point, that the burden was going to fall overwhelmingly to her. I thought, right then, that she was going to opt to terminate.
