Such a missed opportunity for meaningful storytelling, especially in the current political climate.
We already had two main characters—Carrie and Samantha—talk about their abortion experiences. We don’t need a third main character to go through that. I think a lot more women of LTW’s age related to getting unexpectedly pregnant at an advanced maternal age, feeling conflicted but deciding to keep it, then losing it. In fact, there have been numerous threads about that on DCUM.
It is probably the most realist outcome, at her age.
99% of unwanted pregnancies on TV shows magically end in miscarriage rather than abortion. It's such a cowardly and tired storyline.
Agree. That was especially weak for a show that’s been extra blatant about addressing all things gender. An abortion or her having the baby with reservations and the impending doom on her life and career would have made more sense here.
You are crazy if you think a character played by a 52-year-old actress was not extremely likely to miscarry an unplanned pregnancy.
Your charm is persuasive but her real age is irrelevant. Her character seems to be in her 40s.
“Seems to be” to who? She is a direct contemporary of Charlottes, and we know Charlotte to be in her 50s.
Charlotte had her kids late in life. I would have guessed Lisa had her kids earlier, and that she is 43-45.
Kristin Davis is 58 years old. I don’t know what some of you are smoking if you think the character is in her 40s. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kristin_Davis I am 43. When the series premiered in 1998, I was graduating from high school and heading off to college. All of the women in the series were introduced as characters in their early 30s (Samantha being a little older). In season 4, the big deal was Carrie turning 35 and everyone missing her birthday party.
No one is saying that. Charlotte had Rock at 40 and is now mid 50s; LTW probably had her kid at 30 and is now 45.
…according to who? Where are you drawing that conclusion with any certainty? The actress is 52. Why you’ve decided the character is 7 years younger than the actress portraying her, and a full THIRTEEN years younger than the actress who plays her character’s contemporary is beyond any reasonable thinking. It’s common for high-powered NYC women to have babies later than 30. What made you decide LTW had babies at 30 vs. 35? It’s absurd. Are you really this afraid of aging? Are you really this indignant about a woman in her FIFTIES having a miscarriage on a television show?
Your intensity concerning your position is odd. The majority of us believe the Lisa character is younger than Charlotte. Neither is playing their RL age-- are you familiar with Hollywood? Charlotte is still perimenopausal which suggests early 50s. Lisa remarked she thought she was no longer fertile, now realizes she's "on the border." That absolutely suggests 45. If she were 50 or older, she'd be utterly shocked and the number one topic of conversation would have been her age, the risk, and the almost-certain pregnancy loss to come. You are both weirdly emotional and illogical about their apparent ages on the show. So maybe calm down?
Nah, I’m good. You deciding the character is way younger than all evidence points to is very telling about your insecurity about aging. You seem to want this character to have had an abortion, or to have wrestled with that decision. She talked about it, and decided she couldn’t do that—why does that bother you? That’s a very realistic decision that a lot of women make. They know they have a choice, they are glad they have a choice, but they personally could not choose to have an abortion. That upsets you why?
I didn't make one comment about abortion. Your weird leaps are...
+1 NP and I also think LTW is supposed to be 45.
