For the 3rd straight night of doubleheaders at BF girls will play early game in the heat at 5:30. $10 to leave early from work making excuses to your boss and then sit on pan hot metal bleachers with the sun in your eyes. Coaches are pissed too Title IX my ass!
Aren’t they supposed to rotate for double headers? If girls play first the next time they host boys go first vice versa. That’s how most schools do it.
It’s actually a specific Title IX requirement for HS that boys/girls have to switch. The specific issue has been adjudicated and it’s given as a specific example as a HS Title IX violation if you look it up (Hint: Search NFHS Title IX FAQs). “In numerous OCR complaints and federal lawsuits, the agency and courts have ruled that schools must allow girls teams to play in the “primetime” slot on a basis equivalent to boys teams (in doubleheaders) and that if doubleheaders are not played, girls teams must be permitted to play on “prime nights” (Fridays and Saturdays) on a basis equivalent to boys.” If it’s 3 in a row, the BF AD is in shaky legal ground both from the girls team but also an opponent who could have a good challenge to the game’s outcome. A little internet investigation and then education of the AD may be needed before the next game to fix this.
