The dog is the give away. Who would take a dog on such a hike? Even if the dog had done it before and it was strong, it was a risk. Too much of a pain to then have to deal with the dog if he stopped walking or was in distress. Makes absolutely no sense.
But the dog cuts both ways in either a happy family outing scenario or a march to death scenario. Same issue with burning paws on trail, overheating, lying down and not moving, etc. I agree with you but they did take the dog. I do find it odd that the very furry dog was 8 and they had managed not to bake it to death to that point, then suddenly this.
I think the dog points to a march to death, personally. This would be a really treacherous outing for a furry dog that I don't think most responsible owners would ever undertake (and they didn't bake him for 8 years as you say.) I've lived in similar climates and my active breed goes out basically at sunrise and after sunset and it is still for like 30 min at a shot, max, with mid-day pees only. It was a march to the death for the dog for sure and I can't believe they wouldn't know that, so I doubt the happy family outing narrative.
I’m in a very hot area and own large breed working dogs with some age. Like yours, a morning takin care of business trek around the yard, midday pee and a sunset trek. This was not a happy family contrary to what some want to believe. I’m not sure what I can or should post here. Dig deep-er. You’ll find interesting info and I’m not talking about festivals or parading around nude. I don’t care what indulgences they preferred. Remember, close friends that speak out are friends because they enjoy the same lifestyle generally. So, all things seem perfect if you live the same, right? If you wanna go right on believing the torrid temp’ eradicated an entire family, go ahead. I suggest it did not and they could have turned around at any time if they felt uncomfortable. Bet they died before the temps got too extreme. They had a mission. Moo based on facts and critical thinking.
